7 Best Wireless Microphone Apps for PC
Phone-as-microphone apps have quietly become essential tools for remote workers, students and streamers. We compared the most popular options on setup time, connection modes, latency and price to help you pick the right one.
1. WO Mic – best overall
WO Mic supports Wi-Fi, USB and Bluetooth, installs a proper virtual microphone driver and works on Windows, macOS and Linux. The free tier covers everything most users need.
- Three connection modes
- All desktop platforms
- Free with optional Pro upgrade
2. DroidCam – best if you also need a webcam
DroidCam doubles as a camera and microphone. If you want one app for video and audio, it is convenient, though the free version is limited to lower resolution.
3. MicMono – simplest setup
MicMono focuses purely on audio and requires almost no configuration. It is a good choice for occasional use, but platform support is narrower.
4. EpocCam – polished but paid
EpocCam offers excellent audio and video quality, but the free version is heavily limited and the Pro license costs money.
5. AudioRelay – best for low-latency streaming
AudioRelay is designed for streaming audio between devices and performs well on stable networks. The interface is more technical than WO Mic's.
6. WO Mic Pro – ad-free upgrade
The Pro version of WO Mic removes ads and adds quality-of-life features. If you use the app daily, the upgrade is inexpensive.
7. PhoneMic – lightweight alternative
A minimal app for quick recordings. It lacks advanced settings but starts fast and uses little battery.
How we tested
Each app was installed on the same Windows 11 laptop and paired with the same Android phone over Wi-Fi. We measured setup time, dropouts during a 30-minute call, and subjective audio quality in a quiet room.
